Blacks Photography is closing because photos are not being printed anymore.
I still feel that it is such a nice feelings sitting with family and
friends and going through photo albums. Showing them on a phone /
tablet/ computer is not the same. Same with books, it is not the same
reading from an e-reader instead of a paper book.
We were having a
conversation about GPS vs reading a map. My brother thinks that
technology like the GPS, which doesn't make us think will cause our brains
to shut down because we don't use it enough. Sometimes with the GPS, we
have no clue if we are going North/South/ East or West.

Studying Islam has come at a price. Old friends see me as a traitor; family members see me as “strange,” and Muslims see me as someone who will never be good enough.

Solemn Day
When I think of the American Memorial Day, this is the first image that comes to my mind
That's a mother at the tombstone of her 20 year old son. It is a very solemn day for many people...not a happy day.
Memorial Day is not about the official start of summer or about beach and BBQ!

The strangers that kept him going
I am really amaze at the number of people who kept Omar Khadr going.
Especially the number of non Muslims that are saying that they "have his
back".
- Starting with his lawyer Dennis Edney and his wife Patricia
- Appeal Court Justice Myra Bielby rejected the government’s last-ditch attempt to block his bail.
- The English professor Arlette Zinck from King's University

................
and the countless other people who campaigned for him
This is truly Canadian!

Mothers
Having
coffee today with my mom and dad (both 77) and my husbands mom (88). I
said, InshaAllah (God's willing) "I hope I can live as long as the three
of you". My mom said, "You will, because I really took care of you when
you were a baby". I asked her if she breast fed me. She said she did,
but unfortunately she had to stop when my brother came along 18 months
after.
